Volunteer Worksites

The Little Sisters of the Assumption operate several service sites along the East Coast, and volunteers are welcome and needed in all of them. While the sites vary in the precise services offered, the family-centered ideal of the Little Sisters is the mission of all of them. The Little Sisters Family Health Service and The Pernet Family Health Service are home-health agencies located in East Harlem, NY and Worcester, MA respectively. In Dorcester, MA we have  Project Hope is a shelter for homeless women.

Volunteers may be placed at the site where they are most needed, but are usually free to choose the site they are most comfortable with. They are not expected to know going into the program what they'd like to do at the site, and the staff and supervisors at the various worksites will do everything possible to place a volunteer where his or her skills, background, training, or interests are put to good use. There are plenty of para-professional positions to be filled at all the agencies, so applicants shouldn't be under the impression that they need a degree in social work or health care experience to work in any of the sites. The Little Sisters and the staff of the agencies will do everything possible to provide volunteers with rewarding, fulfilling work opportunities.
