Like Etienne Pernet and Antoinette Fage, the Congregation has an affinity for what reveals the heart of persons and things wherever the real "poor" (in the Biblical sense) seek the one who created them and loves them, wherever the "pearl" is concealed or crushed by external forces.

Like the apostles and Mary Magdala in front of an empty tomb, we can feel the Lord's presence, even if all appearances point to the contrary. We want to let ourselves be touched by this God who lowers Himself to the point of undergoing a Passion of love. This was how our founders were able to understand the human and spiritual suffering of the poorest among the workers of their time. They were able to perceive the ill effects of poverty, whatever its form: economic, social, cultural, ontological, psychological.

Today, as yesterday, our faith in Jesus Christ leads us to give our lives completely. We commit ourselves as a community and with others in solidarity with the "fragile" people of the places where we live and work. The harshness of their lives causes us to be open to international action for more justice and peace.

I would ask you who read this to discover the "pearl" which we all receive in our existence. May we work together in the project of the God of the Covenant and recognize His Reign in the world.
