AMERICORPS

In October of 1999, the LSAV program began participation in the fledgling AmeriCorps Education Award Program (AEAP). The AEAP is a new form of AmeriCorps, designed and implemented in partnership with the Catholic Network of Volunteer Services (CNVS) , the Washington-based conglomeration of lay-volunteer programs within the United States.

The AEAP allows Little Sisters volunteers to receive the traditional education benefits AmeriCorps awards its own volunteers. For one year of service, volunteers receive $4725.00 toward the repayment of student loans or future education expenses. For 6 months of service, volunteers receive $2362.00. During their service time, volunteers submit to AmeriCorps weekly time sheets and every six months a comprehensive semiannual report on their work. Volunteers may be eligible to receive AEAP benefits more than once for multiple terms of service.

If you are interested in taking part in the AEAP program during your service term with the Little Sisters of the Assumption Volunteers, contact the LSAV Director or check out the Americorps web site at: http://www.americorps.org.
